A few weeks ago UNTHA UK hosted an industry-first event – a full day showcase designed to help people make more money from ‘waste’ in 2017.
A programme of insightful seminars was prepared for delegates, with guest presentations from Simon Ellin (the UK Security Shredding Association), Daren Wood (the British Security Industry Association), Robert Fell (the British Metals Recycling Association) and the CIWM’s Ken Sherwood and Chris Murphy.
The aim of the event was to transfer knowledge, spark debate and encourage more profitable thinking as businesses plan for the year ahead. The morning sessions therefore focused on the compliant, yet cost-effective processing of confidential waste and secure product destruction. The expert seminars were complemented by a number of shredding demonstrations, showcasing how to satisfy increasingly stringent data protection legislation, whilst maintaining a keen eye on the bottom line.
The afternoon sessions then switched to concentrate on ‘how to make more money from metals’. The depressed market has made for gloomy trading conditions recently, but, with the help of the guest speakers, UNTHA UK’s programme illustrated the opportunities that exist in the sector. Once again, a number of shredding demonstrations also took place, including a ‘first look’ at UNTHA’s new metal clean up system.
