UNTHA research reveals lack of confidence in current Government

An online poll carried out by our team of industrial shredding specialists has revealed a significant lack of confidence in the current Government.

Throughout the month of July, UNTHA asked website visitors whether they believe we have an effective Government to steer us through Brexit. And the results showed a resounding level of worry among the research participants.

An overwhelming 78% of people voted no, they do not believe the current Government is equipped to steer the UK through the reform. Only 17% said yes and 6% of respondents outlined their uncertainty by selecting the ‘not sure’ option.

The results, whilst perhaps unsurprising, come as something of a disappointment to UNTHA UK’s chairman Chris Oldfield.

“It is a shame to see a continued lack of faith among the business community and wider public as we face a time of such uncertainty,” he said. “This is one of the biggest changes our country will encounter in modern history, so I wish we had greater belief in the people that are going to manage it for us.

“That said, our poll opened on the 1st of July, when David Cameron was still Prime Minister and the Brexit result was incredibly ‘raw’. If we ran the research again, now that Theresa May has carried out the cabinet re-shuffle, we would perhaps uncover different findings.

“I’ve certainly encountered growing levels of positivity among the people I’ve spoken to about Brexit, now that the dust has settled. Whilst a number of our peers undoubtedly wish the outcome had been different, they’re remaining resolute. It seems that the focus is now ‘onwards and upwards’. I suppose that’s the key to business success during any period of change. We have to be flexible and adapt to an evolving economic climate. We also have to realise that sometimes the Government does make things harder for us, certainly in the waste and recycling sector. But that’s never stopped us succeeding before!”

UNTHA UK’s managing director Marcus Brew has also spoken to a number of industry media about Brexit during both the pre-vote months and following the ‘leave’ announcement. His latest thoughts will be published in the next issue of leading journal Waste Management World (watch this space!)

UNTHA UK conducts a different online poll every month. To take part in the current research, please click here – your vote can be submitted in less than 15 seconds.
