In this month’s regular Q&A, we put Dean Lewis under the spotlight and find out what he loves about his new job and how he chooses to relax when he isn’t working….

Name: Dean Lewis

Job title: Customer Service Manager

  1. What does your role entail?

I’m the first point of after sales contact once the purchase of a shredder is complete. I speak to and visit all of our customers – assessing their needs and expectations in the first instance. I then offer them a variety of service and maintenance packages to help maximise their return from the machinery.

  1. How long have you been with the company?

Just over 4 months so not long at all, but I think I’ve settled in quickly!

  1. What’s the best thing about your job?

Getting in front of our customers and speaking with them face-to face, rather than merely being a voice over the telephone. In the world of modern communication, face-to-face contact seems to be becoming more rare, but it plays a crucial part in relationship building.

I also love seeing the variety of applications that our world-renowned shredders can achieve.

  1. For you, which is UNTHA’s stand-out shredder?

The XR, because of it’s total versatility and capability to handle anything you throw at it!

  1. Which is your favourite UNTHA project?

Being so new to UNTHA, I don’t feel I’m in a position to answer this question, but I look forward to many exciting UNTHA projects yet to come!

  1. What’s been your biggest work achievement, since joining UNTHA?

Seeing the overall satisfaction that customers express when I’ve helped them boost the productivity of their machines through a planned maintenance regime or a cutter change programme, for instance.

  1. Describe UNTHA in three words:

Adaptable, accommodating and approachable.

And finally some more light-hearted questions:

  1. What’s your favourite food?

Anything Mexican – but particularly fajitas!

  1. How do you relax on a weekend?

By watching my beloved Tranmere Rovers and also playing golf.

  1. If you were stranded on a desert island, what is the one thing you couldn’t live without?

Has to be my girlfriend.
