iNet Group specialises in the supply, installation, recycling and remarketing of Cisco IT equipment. In this latest client spotlight, Sales Director Dan Sklan answers 10 key questions about their UNTHA shredder…
- Describe your business in one paragraph
Our primary focus is providing expert advice & competitive pricing on networking equipment manufactured by Cisco. Not only do we supply new equipment, but we also purchase redundant and excess equipment, as well as providing a network installation and consultancy service. The goal is to provide an end-to-end solution that meets all clients IT disposal, data security and recycling requirements. The fastest growing part of the business is the reclamation of precious metals from aged equipment that no longer has a practical use or resale value.
- What do you shred?
We shred networking-related circuit boards as well as hard drives.
- Which machine do you use?
The UNTHA RS30 four shaft shredder.
- What happens to your shredded material?
Shredded circuit boards are sent to a specialist refiner to recover the precious metal content including gold, silver, copper and palladium.
- Why did you choose UNTHA?
Having undertaken lots of research, the name that kept cropping up was UNTHA. UNTHA was the most expensive quote we received, however we choose this supplier based on the quality and reliability of the brand along with the residual value.
- Describe UNTHA in 3 words
Reliable, Shredder, Gary (who devised our solution!)
- When it comes to your business, why do clients choose you over your competitors?
We have over 20 years’ experience in the industry and have established a reputation for operating in a reliable and efficient manner.
We also prioritise great service. In this increasingly digital world we like to pick up the phone and speak to customers and suppliers. We don’t think you can beat a personal service.
- What’s in store for your business over the next 12 months?
iNet Group is now in its third year of trading and is growing fast. In the next 12 months our aim is to grow the recycling side of the business and the reclamation of precious metals from the end-of-life equipment that we process.
To date we are already working with several other Cisco brokers and ITAD’s, providing them with a disposal process for their end-of-life, redundant, faulty and damaged equipment. We provide a solution by which they can still achieve a return on the equipment that others would have entirely written off. It is this results-driven approach which we hope will attract more customers.
We are also working on a large contract for a customer that is not satisfied with the level of security provided by wiping data or degaussing hard drives, so instead wants them shredded.
- If you could change one thing about the recycling industry, what would it be?
When it comes to disposing of PCBs, many companies don’t achieve as much as they could, or should. This is largely because there is not enough education in the marketplace. In other words, people simply don’t understand the recycling potential of such materials.
- What’s the best thing about working in this industry?
Each day brings a different challenge, which means we have to constantly change and evolve our business.
