Industrial shredding specialist UNTHA UK has just achieved ISO re-certification for a hat-trick of the renowned accreditations.
The North Yorkshire team of waste and recycling experts was first awarded the prestigious ISO9001 (quality), ISO14001 (environmental) and OHSAS18001 (health and safety) standards, back in early 2014.
Every year thereafter, UNTHA UK has passed the annual audit with flying colours. But fast forward to 2017 and there was the three-yearly re-certification inspection to comply with.
However, demonstrating an unswerving commitment to these three strands of business management, the process proved no problem for the progressive solutions provider.
At the time of the initial ISO awards, lead auditor Shane Horsfield commented: “The Company is very customer focused and there is suitable evidence in place to support the management team’s commitment to continually improve as a result of business changes, client reviews, feedback from customers and analysis of service level performance.”
Three years on, and this approach is certainly paying off. Adding his comment in the wake of the re-certification news, UNTHA UK’s chairman Chris Oldfield elaborated: “We pledged from the start that the ISO accreditations would form only the very minimum standards that UNTHA UK would uphold on a daily basis. So, true to our word, they’ve remained a benchmark for continuous improvement moving forward.”
Now, as UNTHA UK’s client base continues to evolve, this independent certification is proving more important than ever.
“We’re supporting clients with increasingly complex projects, so it’s crucial that everything from our processes and paperwork, to our culture and knowledge, are exemplary,” Chris explained. “It all influences our ability to manage installations, deliver services, develop products, support the progression of our colleagues, reduce waste and coordinate health and safety, efficiently and effectively.”
So how did the team prepare for the inspection?
Chris concludes: “Whilst every business is naturally apprehensive before the inspections take place, in truth, we were already scrutinising our own working practices, long before the external ISO auditors arrived. We were therefore confident that we’d succeed with the re-certification, and we’re delighted with the outcome.”
