In the latest of our regular Q&A’s, we discover what company accountant Liz would eat every evening if she could, her ‘stand-out’ shredder and the thing she couldn’t live without!
Name: Liz Crompton
Job title: Company Accountant
What does your role entail?
I deal with all aspects of the accounting function at UNTHA UK including preparing management accounts, raising invoices and sending salary information to the payroll department. I’m also responsible for chasing up any outstanding payments – when I wear my debt collector’s hat!
How long have you been with the company?
Just short of two years. It’s a strange one because it doesn’t feel like two minutes since I started here, and yet in other ways it seems as though I’ve worked here forever!
What’s the best thing about your job?
The variety of work involved in my role – every day is different and uncovers new challenges. Although by no means small, I prefer working in an organisation of this size as opposed to a huge company – I get to see all sides of the business and am involved in a lot more due to the make-up of the team.
For you, which is UNTHA’s stand-out shredder?
Definitely the XR-mobile! It does exactly what it says on the tin, and its flexibility is key to its success.
Which is your favourite UNTHA project?
I’m going to give a classic accountant’s answer here – the one that gleaned us the most profit margin!
What’s been your biggest work achievement, since joining UNTHA?
For me personally it was following the recent VAT audit which was carried out on the premises. VAT returns are a tricky part of my job, and when everything was found to be perfect down to the penny, I was elated!
Describe UNTHA in three words:
Friendly, quality, excellence.
And finally some more light-hearted questions:
What’s your favourite food?
Chinese – it’s a joke in our house that I would eat this every single night given the option!
How do you relax on a weekend?
With a really good cup of coffee in Café Nero, then sitting down with the family to watch a movie – it makes a lovely change from being the kids’ taxi driver throughout the week!
If you were stranded on a desert island, what is the one thing you couldn’t live without?
My Kindle – I love a great detective thriller.
